Working in the restaurant business, he put himself through NYU Film School and later embarked on various career paths, including stints as a Studio 54 doorman and a live TV producer and director for major networks like NBC and ABC. However, his innate desire to be his own boss and make a meaningful impact persisted.
This ambition materialized when Krivin became a partner at Chumley’s in New York and established two other successful gastro pubs that garnered multiple awards in 1996. His entrepreneurial spirit was alive, but life had more to offer.
Transitioning into the advertising and marketing world, Krivin’s path ultimately converged with the democratization of technology. In the early 2000s, when everything was new, and businesses were celebrating so-called failures as learning and growing experiences, Gary was working for market leading firms such as R/GA and MD of AKQA’s NY office. This sparked him to lean into the operational side of business becoming the COO and partner of Crayon, a social media consulting agency. They helped pioneer the strategy and execution of B2C social media engagements for Fortune 500 clients including Coca-Cola, American Airlines, Kraft Foods and Panasonic. Krivin and the team built Crayon to the point of it culminating in a successful acquisition. “I wanted to find a way to help others achieve their goals of successful entrepreneurship and GJK was born.”
